Daily Update: Progress Signal, Not Status Report

The critical advantage of async daily updates: everyone writes in their own context. A developer doesn't context-switch at 09:00 for a standup; they drop a note into the issue mid-flow, around 2 PM. A designer closes Figma at 18:00 and logs progress. Average issue completion time (open to close) dropped to 3.2 days—it was 4.8 during the synchronous standup period. Reason: blocker escalation pattern accelerated.

Blocker Escalation: 4-Hour Threshold

Hard rule for blocker detection: if an issue shows no progress for 4 hours, the owner automatically adds the blocker label in Linear and mentions the relevant person.
