Each team member fills their section within 24 hours. Synchronous retrospective only runs if velocity drops below 30% for 2 consecutive cycles—happens 1–2 times yearly.

Daily Update Pattern: Context, Not Status

The garbage version of async standup is: "Yesterday I did X, today I'm doing Y, blocker?" Pasted in Slack, nobody reads it. That information already exists in Linear—repeating it is waste.

Deep Work Block and Interrupt Cost

Morning update: marking "Deep Work" auto-sets Slack status to "Do Not Disturb" (Zapier integration). Linear notifications also suspend for 4 hours. Result: average DM response time went from 12 minutes to 38 minutes—but code merge time dropped 18%. Lower interrupt cost improves output quality.
